Being Fashionable Offline…In an Online World

Earlier this year, my mom was overwhelmed about deciding what to wear to my friend’s wedding. We’d sent each other countless dresses in an attempt to find the perfect one: not too formal, not too casual, not too short, not white, not too cheap-looking, not boring. The only dress that my mom, who has lived in the Midwest all her life, isn’t on social media, and has never been particularly into fashion, has wholeheartedly liked is a maxi-length, form-fitting coated denim (looks like leather) dress with a fairly high slit in the back by none other than Rick Owens.

Why Getting Dressed in New York Is More Fun Than in London

Before moving to London as a 23-year-old to do an MSc, I was freshly graduated from college, frolicking around the streets of New York City in the heat of the summer wearing knee-high boots, a micro mini skirt with an intentional whale tail à la Skims micro G string, and some sort of tight-fitting top. In New York, I felt comfortable and confident in this sort of outfit, but the thought of wearing something like this in London makes me shiver.
